Summary

I want him to hurt。 To bleed。
I want him to snap, just like he snapped me。

Once upon a time, my world was small and sheltered。 Everything changed the moment I stepped over my Safety Line, barreling towards a coupling with a man I hardly know。

He wants me。 All of me。

Dunked in a charged political pit, I must secure the ships needed to quell the spill of murderous beasts still flooding the continent。 But one wrong move could spur the war I’ve worked so hard to avoid。

I’ll wear the dress and the cupla and the shoes。 I’ll do it all with a smile on my face。 Because everyone's watching。
He’s watching—hunting a fissure in my frosty shield, trying to scrape back the layers and see my ugly insides。

He’s unyielding。 Unguarded。
Changed。

Why is he looking now when I’ve got everything to hide?

Secrets sprout, truths bloom, and more than one of us will snap。
Crowned in the crippling weight of my mistakes, I must atone。 Even if it costs me my life。

Fear was my overlord。 Now, it’s my prisoner。

To Snap a Silver Stem is the explosive sequel of To Bleed a Crystal Bloom—a dark Rapunzel reimagining full of immersive imagery and breathtaking angst。 A unique fantasy series perfect for fans of Sarah J。 Maas and Jennifer L。 Armentrout, guaranteed to grip you from the very first page。

Thoughts before reading this:People that are not "team Rhordyn" are。。。weird。。。I didn't even realize there were teams or that this was a triangle until I saw some reviews。。。the explosive chemistry Orlaith has with Rhordyn is incomparable to that with anyone else。 I'll honestly be very disappointed if there's a switch up。 Cainon was hardly in the first book I'm confused how people could even ship her with him given so little development? The POVs we also gained from Baze, Rhordyn, Cainon, and Kai were all incredibly insightful and only added to the story and the expanding world, while still somehow dredging up even more questions about all 4 of them, their motives, their pasts, and their futures。Some twists/hunches that I did have going into this book panned out, but mostly in ways I could have never expected。 The ending (THAT ENDING!!!!) will leave you absolutely stunned and breathless。 I don’t want the next book…I NEED the next book ASAP because this book will absolutely be haunting my heart until then。Thank you so much, Sarah A。 Parker, for trusting me with an ARC of your baby。 It was a masterpiece and I forgive you for making it hurt so good。 I love Orlaith and I cannot thank you enough for sharing her and her story with the world!! 。。。more

This is dark, gritty, and beautifully whimsical。 I love the world building this author created。 The third installment can’t come soon enough。 I’m not going to give you spoilers or plot deets。 You have to read it to appreciate it。

Sarah is such a gifted writer。 She is a master of description and evoking emotion and makes it impossible to not root for the characters。 I love the emotional and mental development of each of the characters in book #2! And wow… so many surprises at every turn! The world building, the romance, the action… all of it was so incredible。 This book was excellent and I can hardly wait for book 3!!

Let me first start by saying that 5 stars is not enough- it is hands down the best book I’ve read in a long time。 The story line is so much bigger, deeper and more complex than a dark fairy tale。 I instantly fell in love with the story of “To Bleed a Crystal Bloom” and this book made that love greater。 Sarah’s story is multifaceted and stunningly gorgeous and her writing allows the reader to feel immersed in the world and journey along with her characters。 I wish I could accurately put into word Let me first start by saying that 5 stars is not enough- it is hands down the best book I’ve read in a long time。 The story line is so much bigger, deeper and more complex than a dark fairy tale。 I instantly fell in love with the story of “To Bleed a Crystal Bloom” and this book made that love greater。 Sarah’s story is multifaceted and stunningly gorgeous and her writing allows the reader to feel immersed in the world and journey along with her characters。 I wish I could accurately put into words how wonderful every aspect of this book is。 Please read this book, you will not be disappointed, I can guarantee that。 。。。more

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️I finished TSASS two days ago and I am still having a hard time putting into words how I feel about this book。 It took my breath away。Sarah's beautiful prose guides us along as we explore Orlaith's first ventures out into the world outside her Safety Line。 Just like in TBACB, it can be hard to read about Orlaith's journey as she becomes more and more in charge of her own destiny, but wow is it a privilege to watch her bloom。 The book is a work of art。 A beautifully written foundation ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️I finished TSASS two days ago and I am still having a hard time putting into words how I feel about this book。 It took my breath away。Sarah's beautiful prose guides us along as we explore Orlaith's first ventures out into the world outside her Safety Line。 Just like in TBACB, it can be hard to read about Orlaith's journey as she becomes more and more in charge of her own destiny, but wow is it a privilege to watch her bloom。 The book is a work of art。 A beautifully written foundation of a complex political world and the growth of every single character in the series。 Highlights of self discovery, forgiveness, and love。 Shading of trauma, loss, self-loathing, secrets, and impossible situations。 All of these things combine to create a haunting masterpiece that I can't look away from。 It was SO much more than I thought it was going to be and Sarah juggled all of these extremely difficult topics flawlessly and with so much nuance I could cry。I can't stop thinking about this book and I've resigned my self to the fact that this book is going to stay with me forever。 This series is one of my favorites of ALL TIME。 I can't put into words how ready I am to read the next installment in Orlaith's journey, but February can't come soon enough! This was an ARC review 。。。more

Beautiful, breathtaking, devastating, and raw。 I laughed, I cried, and I was right there with Orlaith as she went through pain, sorrow, guilt, and shame。 I’m still processing everything I read and coming to terms with my emotions and feelings。I fell in love with To Bleed a Crystal Bloom, with the depth of the world and the complexity of the character。 I thought I knew what I was in for but I should have known better, To Snap a silver Stem has taken all that I knew and flipped it on its headThere Beautiful, breathtaking, devastating, and raw。 I laughed, I cried, and I was right there with Orlaith as she went through pain, sorrow, guilt, and shame。 I’m still processing everything I read and coming to terms with my emotions and feelings。I fell in love with To Bleed a Crystal Bloom, with the depth of the world and the complexity of the character。 I thought I knew what I was in for but I should have known better, To Snap a silver Stem has taken all that I knew and flipped it on its headThere are so many layers to this story and so many twists and turns that I truly never know what’s around the net page。 Needless to say I gave up guessing and just went along for the ride。 Just kept reading until the words played out like a movie in my head。 For those that have read the first book, you’ll know that it’s multiple POVs predominantly centered around Orlaith with tiny glimpses from the other character’s eyes。 The stark difference in this book is that while yes the story is still largely centered around Orlaith we get so much more from the others。 I absolutely loved Kais chapters and always felt like he had a story that needed to be told。 All that history and all that pain was begging to be put to words。 There were two things I was hoping for in TSASS:1。tTo see Orlaith grow or I should say Bloom。 I was not disappointed! Seeing her work through trauma based in guilt and regret was gut-wrenching but it made her strength that much more beautiful。 She’s a fighter and a survivor that’s lived too long in the shadows and not taking control of her own destiny。2。tRhordyn! My biggest criticism of him has always been that I didn’t get enough from him in the few chapter from his POV in TBACB。 He’s the male with very few words to spare。 Probably also why I was so quick to jump on the Cainon ship。 Again I was not disappointed! I couldn’t get enough of his chapters。 There’s a lot more insight into who he is and events surrounding him from the past。 To say that Feb 28th can’t come soon enough is an understatement。 I’ve been left torn open and bleeding。 Like an addict looking for their next fix。 This whole series is magical and whimsical draped in darkness and sorrow and my twisted heart rejoices with every chapter。 Sarah, you have officially broken me, I now have to figure out what I’m going to do with my life while I come to terms with everything you put me through reading TSASS。 I’m also eternally grateful for the ARC, it was everything I wanted and needed so thank you! 。。。more

I had initially picked up the To Bleed a Crystal Bloom series on a recommendation of a fantasy fiction blogger promising a compelling reimagining of the classic fairytale, Rapunzel。 What I needed was a quick reprieve into another world。 What I got was was not a reprieve but an immersion。 A deep dive into a world that was so thickly layered with heavily guarded secrets, complicated character motives and warring emotions, that it not only made you obsessed with piecing together a puzzle that only I had initially picked up the To Bleed a Crystal Bloom series on a recommendation of a fantasy fiction blogger promising a compelling reimagining of the classic fairytale, Rapunzel。 What I needed was a quick reprieve into another world。 What I got was was not a reprieve but an immersion。 A deep dive into a world that was so thickly layered with heavily guarded secrets, complicated character motives and warring emotions, that it not only made you obsessed with piecing together a puzzle that only led to more questions than answers, but also made you analyze your own firmly held beliefs of good and evil, trauma and healing, forgiveness of the self and others。I loved the POTENTIAL of the story trajectory from the first book so much, I was preparing my heart for the possibility of disappointment with the second。 The disappointment that I was imagining the depth of characters and plot and that all the clues I was piecing together from the first were just wishful thinking。I was never so happy to be wrong。 To Snap a Silver Stem took hold of our vulnerable hearts and like Orlaith forced it past our own Safety Lines。 It forced us to reframe our preconceived notions of abuse vs。 healthy love, destiny/fate vs。 free will and choice, and most importantly it reinforced that no matter what path we may be on, we deserve to be the authors of our own lives and story。 One of my favorite book series of all time。 Enjoy。 。。。more

It's definitely dark, raw *and I still feel numb after reading it*, I felt everything Orlaith was feeling and it was a lot lol。 Orlaith is the heart of this series。 She's such a complex character to follow and I mean it in the best way。 We first met her as a sheltered soft young woman and we still got that from her, but we started seeing her grow, discover herself, bite back, explore more but we also saw her break and go through trauma and the aftermath of that。 Honestly all of it was heartbreakingly exquisite! She's one of my new all time favorite characters now and I just can't wait to see where this story takes her and see her heal and finally bloom! Besides Orlaith, I have to say TSASS gave us more world building and we started exploring more, just like we got more political intrigues。 All things that fascinate me as a reader。 It was also fun to see glimpses of other characters such as Baze, and we finally got more Rhordyn pov which was highly anticipated by me。 Speaking of Rhordyn。。。 I'm not gonna say much besides I really loved him in this book and I'm very happy with the direction this is going。 He's probably the most complex character in this series so far and I can't wait to peel all of his layers, hopefully in future installments。 Needless to say I enjoyed this book, a proof of that is that I almost cried。 And I don't cry for books, ever。 But the pain was real and I felt it all。 And honestly February 28th can't come fast enough at this point。 Lastly, I highly recommend you picking up this series if you like dark fantasy romance with fascinating characters, relationship dynamics and world building。 (ARC review) 。。。more

Crystal Bloom was one of the most mesmerizing books i've read last year。 So, obviously, Silver Stem was one of my most anticipated books。 I'm very thankful for the author for giving me a chance to read this book early。 I was so excited to know what's next for Orlaith and my expectations were exceeded。The writing, storytelling and the settings were so enchanting, very captivating。 The haunting, bittersweet tone of the story is exactly what i seek in dark fantasy books。There's so much growth when Crystal Bloom was one of the most mesmerizing books i've read last year。 So, obviously, Silver Stem was one of my most anticipated books。 I'm very thankful for the author for giving me a chance to read this book early。 I was so excited to know what's next for Orlaith and my expectations were exceeded。The writing, storytelling and the settings were so enchanting, very captivating。 The haunting, bittersweet tone of the story is exactly what i seek in dark fantasy books。There's so much growth when it comes to our main heroine, and her character development was immaculate in every way。 The author does not do simple characters - they're all wonderful, complex, selfish, broken and twisted in all best ways。 I'm thrilled that we got new perceptives in this book because the depth of the characters is exemplary and i found myself invested in each character's storyline。As for the romance department, there's progression for the relationships。 More delicious angst and sexy scenes, but also heartfelt, emotional moments。 It will definitely appeal to fans of NA dark fantasy romance。 I'm also very interested in the new romantic subplots with the side characters! I would love to see more of them in the next book。 I wasn't huge on the main romantic dynamic for Orlaith but i do, however, like the characters individually and i'm rooting for Orlaith to find the happiness she deserves, i mean she will, right? Because the ending delivered an emotional damage。I know i already mentioned how good the characters are but i can't stress enough how amazing our heroine is。 Orlaith's character is wonderful。 You can feel her emotion, rage, guilt and triumph。 She's just wonderful and absolute badass。The book twists all over the place, the tension is always there, i was literally on the edge of my seat when i was reading the final parts。 Some of the unanswered questions are unraveled but more mysteries are yet to be revealed, this, mixed with continuing Orlaith's journey to bloom, is the perfect dose for looking forward to the next book!I'm glad there will be more books in this world, very excited about this series and where the author is going to take us next! 。。。more

Hands down my #1 read of the year and I'm certain will stay that way。 While we spent the first book of the Crystal Bloom series really diving into Orlaith's character and personal journey, To Snap a Silver Stem takes that groundwork and goes right into the MASSIVE amount of action happening throughout the course of the book。 I literally couldn't put it down。 The path Orlaith takes--every decision and thought she has is refreshingly honest, believable。 This is not a book that glosses over trauma Hands down my #1 read of the year and I'm certain will stay that way。 While we spent the first book of the Crystal Bloom series really diving into Orlaith's character and personal journey, To Snap a Silver Stem takes that groundwork and goes right into the MASSIVE amount of action happening throughout the course of the book。 I literally couldn't put it down。 The path Orlaith takes--every decision and thought she has is refreshingly honest, believable。 This is not a book that glosses over trauma and how people heal from it (and that goes not just for Orlaith but the side characters as well)。 Despite the internal struggle Orlaith faces, she is so damn likeable and relatable。 While she may feel weak or broken on the inside, she is not waiting for someone else to come and rescue her。 I。 Fucking。 Love。 That。One of the many things that stands out to me about Sarah A。 Parker's writing, other than her uniquely written prose, and delicious tension, is that she shows us REAL characters。 This book is fantasy and in a made up world, but these characters in it are real, gritty, raw。 Parker doesn't just give us a black and white scenario or viewpoint, she takes her charcoal and shades in all the grey in between。 I love seeing how she peels back each perspective。 I cannot wait to see where the story goes next and what happens with these characters in To Flame a Wild Flower。 I have no doubts she will enthrall us with another beautiful journey for Orlaith and crew。 。。。more

To Snap a Silver Stem picks up shortly after TBACB。 As Orlaith attempts to secure ships for Rhordyn and discover a new world she finds herself thrust even deeper into secrets。 TSASS is not a fluffy fantasy romance。 This book is dark, raw, and gritty。 It hits you in the most unexpected ways and leaves you shattered with the characters。 S。A。 Parker expands on an already complex dark fantasy world as we dive deeper into characters, meet some new characters, and secrets are revealed。 Orlaith's story To Snap a Silver Stem picks up shortly after TBACB。 As Orlaith attempts to secure ships for Rhordyn and discover a new world she finds herself thrust even deeper into secrets。 TSASS is not a fluffy fantasy romance。 This book is dark, raw, and gritty。 It hits you in the most unexpected ways and leaves you shattered with the characters。 S。A。 Parker expands on an already complex dark fantasy world as we dive deeper into characters, meet some new characters, and secrets are revealed。 Orlaith's story is one of discovery, growth, and healing。 As she discovers a new world away from Rhordyn she is dealing with feelings of anger, hurt, and deception。 Yes, she makes mistakes along the way but I was rooting for her every step of this story。 She has a long way to go but I just know it is going to be one of the most beautiful character arcs ever。 Honestly, I am struggling with the words to write a review that truly does this book justice。 This has been one of my favorite reads of 2022。 This book will leave you speechless and heartbroken。 It is beautiful, authentic, and wonderful。 It is going to hurt but in the best way possible。 I cannot wait for the next book。 。。。more
